A little old world and a little new world. At Lexington St, we'll sample Italian wines from the highly coveted Abruzzo region of central Italy- 2 whites and 1 red, and then offer a taste of a Boston Globe recommended Pinot Noir from Chile - Casa Viva.
 
At our River St store, we're pouring wines from the Santa Ynez Valley in Central California, plus one staff favorite red blend (Cab/Cab Franc) from Washington.

As the name implies, Select Wine Imports, a boutique wine import company in Brookline, MA, is very careful in their selection of wines for their portfolio.
 
Join us at our Lexington St store to travel to Italy's historical Abruzzo region to sample delicious value-priced reds and whites.  Then we'll take a short but palate-pleasing trip to Chile for a Pinot Noir that is reminiscent of Burgundy. Our take - these are great everyday wines!

Unpretentious and delicious is how one describes Buttonwood Farm wines from  the Santa Ynez Valley of Central California.
 
Buttonwood Farm Winery is a sustainable winery - long before green was "in", and they produce just under 6,000 cases annually of 11-12 Bordeaux and Rhone style wines. If you're ever driving through or around the Santa Barbara area (not too far north of LA) you can stop in and peruse their local farm fruit and vegetable offerings, plus sample award winning wines in their tasting room.
 
But for now you can just drop into D&L at our River St store this weekend to sample some of their wines! Added bonus - the charming Michael Sherlock of Gilbert Distributors will be pouring these wines for us Friday night! 
 

2009 Sauvignon Blanc $14.99 - mostly Sauvignon Blanc with a small amount of Semillon - combines sassiness and creaminess in one package

2009 Syrah Rosé $18.99- dark hued and bursting with strawberry, and raspberry flavors joined by layers of pomegranate tartness

2006 Hawk Red $15.99 -A Cabernet / Cabernet Franc blend perfect as an everyday table wine

2006 Buttonwood Cabernet - Delivers flavors of pomegranate and dusty plum tinged with tobacco and cedar held together on a framework of velvety tannin

 2004 Kiona Winery Cab/Merlot blend $15.99-Added tasting from Michael Sherlock's goody bag -  Bordeaux blend with ample ripe dark fruit flavors framed elegantly with oak. PS - this is a staff favorite!

Prisoner Wine

 Dave Phinney of Orin Swift Cellars has gained a cult-like following for this wine.  The Prisoner - typically sold out - is a Zinfandel-based kitchen-sink blend (with small amounts of everything from Cab to Petite Sirah to Charbono) that consistently earns outstanding reviews from Wine Spectator, and has appeared on Wine Spectator's Top 100 list three times in the past four years.
 
This  FANTASTIC wine is a real treat at $39.99!  The '08 received 92pts from WS....Get it while we still got it...
