Spotlight on South Africa
Drop by either Waltham D&L location this weekend (and Fri night in Woburn) for an unexpected & delicious wine tasting - wines of S.Africa.
Although S.Africa is a New World wine area designate, they've been making noble wines for over 350 years! The political unrest & government control of the wine industry is the main reason for their lack of export and visibility.
You can taste their delicious Steen and unique Pinotage wines, along with Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot or other Bordeaux style wines this weekend. Steen is S.African lingo for Chenin Blanc, and Pinotage is the unique Pinot Noir & Cinsault crossing that is a S. African one-of-a-kind wine.
Not too long ago, we had run out of a weekend tasting wine, and decided to open a Pinotage to take its place. Customers scooped it up! It can yield smokey, red berry flavors with a full bodied style. The best part about S.African wines, like many southern hemisphere New World wines, is their value to exceptionality ratio. Great values on superb wines.

"Crafty" craft beer selections at D&L
When first entering our stores you may not notice our artisinal craft beer section, but we actually have a treasure trove of them sourced from around the world.
They typically are available in single bottle format - don't worry - they're BIG bottles (up to 750ml), and are BIG beers in terms of flavors and alcohol content. They taste so damn good, we wanted to highlight some of our wares, because you may not have known we have an amazing growing selection! And we can certainly special order requests.
We'll be hosting a complimentary grand tasting of them April 24th, so stay tuned for more details! Plus soon we'll be adding them to our weekend tastings!

New Wines
 '08 Branko $21.99 - The father & son duo that tend the 6 hectares of this Collio DOC Pinot Grigio have created a wine that overcomes the pedestrian reputation given to sometimes to this varietal.Aged in both stainless steel and French oak for 7 months. Aromas of roasted hazelnuts, spiced fruits and resin, this wine has an inviting and warm palate of full-bodied citrus inspired fruits and a Chardonnay-like viscosity.
 '05 Hyatt Cabernet - This should be under the "Drink Well for Less" section - at only $11.99, its a fantastic value for Cabernet. One of the hidden treasures in Washington's Yakima Valley is Hyatt Vineyards in Zillah - they've been making great, award-winning wines since 1987. I love this Cab - it rivals some of our other well priced California Cabs.....with its toasty blackberry, dark plum, and vanilla flavors it pairs great with lamb chops, venison, stew, or sharp Italian cheeses, but can easily be enjoyed on its own. Don't miss out on this great value!
