The CHARRED Barrique
Wine and Grilling

Grilling is a minimalist and uncomplicated method of cooking and produces intense, smoky and caramelized dishes. This style of cooking is not only used for prime cuts of meat but also for almost any type of food. From shellfish, to veggies you can satisfy any craving while enjoying the outdoors and sipping on your favorite wines.
Here are a few Wine & Grilling guidelines:
-Red wines that have a hint of smoke; Syrah, Zinfandel, Pinotage, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Mourvedre
-White wines that are vaguely smoky; Oaked Chardonnay, Marsanne, Pinot Gris
-Wines that are aged in new oak can have a toasty, smoky flavor
-BBQ Sauce: BBQ sauce is a tough pairing because of it's sweetness. Stick with German Kabinett or Gewurztraminer for whites and reds wines that are deeply fruity and low in tannin.
-MARINADES: Marinades enhance flavors. Ginger, Sherry, Indian Spices and Thai style herbs pair with fresh whites like Sauvignon Blanc, Rose or spicy fruity reds like Tempranillo, Grenache and Primativo.
