Winery of the Week: Graham Beck
Tasting: October 10th- 11th

South Africa takes the stage this weekend at D&L as our friends at Ruby Wine pours wines from the highly acclaimed and one of my personal favorites, Graham Beck Winery.
 2006 Brut Rose Made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The two varieties were pressed together in the same press, integrating flavor and textures. It is beautifully colored pink with strawberry fruit flavors. The aroma is light and yeasty. The palate is rich and creamy. I discovered this sparkler at one of my favorite places to grab a dish of comfort food, "Silvertones" in Boston. This wine is such a good buy that I order it every time I go to "Silvertones" even if it doesn't perfectly match with their signature steak tips! $21.99 Tasting Price $19.79
2006 Railroad Red A favorite all year round! This blend of Shiraz and Cabernet was aged in small French Oak barrels. It has an easy drinking character of spice and juicy berry flavors. On the palate the tannins are present but not overwhelming making a great pair with cheeses and stews. $10.99 Tasting Price $9.89
2004 Shiraz A great alternative to an Aussie Shiraz. This delicious Shiraz underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and was aged in American and French Oak for 13 months. This process explains the layers of flavor going on in this wine. Ripe blackberry and white pepper burst into secondary well-integrated flavors of oak and rich tannin coats the palate. 2007 Gamekeepers Cabernet Sauvignon This wine drinks like a $30 bottle and its under $20! Better yet, if you buy this wine or any of the Graham Beck wines you'll be making a contribution towards the protection and preservation of South Africa's Wild Life.
